Naperville Police Arrest 3 in Early Morning Motor Vehicle Burglary Incident

On Friday, April 26, 2024, at 5:53 a.m., the Naperville Police Department responded to the 1500 block of Westminster Drive in reference to a suspicious subject pulling on car door handles. Upon arrival to the area in question an officer located three subjects seated in a vehicle.

While the officer was speaking with the individuals, they attempted to flee the area on foot and eventually all three were taken into custody.  Two of the subjects taken into custody were juveniles and one was an adult.

The Naperville Police Department’s subsequent investigation led to the adult male, identified as John J. Bailey, 19, of the 7300 block of Winchester Avenue in Chicago, and the two juveniles all being charged with one count of Burglary, a class 3 felony, and multiple misdemeanor offenses.

“This was excellent work by the responding patrol officers who were able to apprehend these subjects and by the detectives who conducted a thorough follow up,” said Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres.  “I would also like to thank the members of the public who received the Naper Notify message we sent out and called us when they saw subjects fitting the description in the neighborhood.  This type of partnership is exactly what helps our department to protect this city and lets those who try to victimize our residents know we will not tolerate this type of behavior.”

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
