Tuscany Lane Structure Fire
NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 8:31 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a call from a resident who had just returned home to find their house full of smoke. Naperville 911 (PSAP) dispatched a full still alarm assignment consisting of six pieces of fire apparatus and 13 personnel, including an incident commander and incident safety officer, to the reported address. Based on the caller’s observations, the incident was upgraded to a general alarm shortly after being dispatched, bringing an additional, engine, truck, squad, and medic, for a total of 24 personnel to the scene.
At 8:37 p.m., the first vehicle arrived on scene and found heavy black smoke coming from the garage door of the two-story, single-family residence. Fire companies ensured all residents were out of the home and then quickly stretched a hose line to contain the fire. As the firefighters made their way inside the house, they encountered a large volume of fire in the kitchen. Crews conducted an aggressive interior attack on the fire, and at 8:49 p.m., it was deemed under control. Fire companies remained on the scene for another 30 minutes to ensure all hot spots were extinguished.
The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There were no injuries to any occupants or firefighters while operating on scene. The building was deemed to be uninhabitable by the Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development Team. The blaze is estimated to have caused $100,000 in damages.
