Van Buren Parking Deck Lighting Upgrades to Begin Week of Nov. 11

Work expected to last through end of December

(Nov. 12 update: Crews will work Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.)

Beginning the week of Nov. 11, the City of Naperville will begin lighting upgrades at the Van Buren parking deck, located at 43 W. Van Buren Ave., as part of the downtown parking deck maintenance program. Pending weather and unforeseen circumstances, all work should be complete, and all parking spaces reopened by the end of December.

City contractor Rag’s Electric will replace the ceiling, stair and vestibule lighting fixtures with LED fixtures throughout the Van Buren Parking Deck. The emergency call boxes will also be upgraded throughout the facility. The new LED lights will use significantly less energy than the current lighting fixtures and will provide bright, uniform light, making it easier to see throughout the facility. Work is expected to last approximately six weeks and, when complete, will make the parking structure brighter and safer.

Crews will work on one level of the deck at a time. Due to the nature of the work, temporary parking restrictions will be in place where work is directly taking place. Parking spaces will reopen once work is complete as work progresses. Traffic devices will be in place to direct motorists through the areas closed for work.

Crews will work Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Unless otherwise noted, staff will work with the contractor to maximize weekend parking availability. Visitors should follow all posted detour and closure signs and use caution while accessing the parking deck. As a reminder, overnight parking is prohibited in the Van Buren parking deck on Sundays.
