100 Block Locust Court Structure Fire

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 10:36 a.m. on Monday, April 28, Naperville’s Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a call reporting a fire at a residence. A second caller advised that the fire involved the home's attached garage and that occupants might still be inside. A general alarm response was dispatched, consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel. While fire crews were en route, neighbors alerted the residents to the danger and assisted them in safely evacuating the home.

At 10:40 a.m., the first fire company arrived on the scene and encountered heavy smoke and fire at the rear of the residence. Crews deployed multiple hose lines to quickly contain and extinguish the fire. During a primary search of the structure, firefighters located and rescued one of the family’s dogs still inside.

The fire was brought under control and deemed extinguished at 11:23 a.m. Fire personnel remained on the scene for approximately 15 additional minutes to check for any remaining hot spots. Damage was mostly contained to the garage area and roof.

Fortunately, there were no injuries to residents, pets, or firefighters. However, the Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development Team has declared the building uninhabitable. Damage is estimated at $100,000. The fire displaced three adults, two children, and two dogs. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Naperville Police Department and Naperville Animal Control. Station coverage during the incident was provided by Lisle-Woodridge and Aurora Fire Departments.
