Structure Fire in the 1300 Block of East Bailey Road
NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 3:26 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, Naperville's Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a call reporting smoke coming from a garage in the area of the 1300 Block of East Bailey Road. ECC dispatched a general alarm assignment to the area. A general alarm assignment consists of three engines, two ladder trucks, one heavy rescue squad, two medic units, and two battalion commanders. At 3:51 p.m., Engine 2 arrived on the scene and reported that a two-story residence had smoke showing from the garage. First-arriving companies completed a 360-degree survey of the structure, provided an on-scene report, established command, and began fire operations. Engine 2 also reported two occupants of the residence were home at the time of the fire and that both were assisted out of the home by fire department personnel.
Fire department personnel deployed hose lines to the garage of the residence, contained the fire to the garage area, and extinguished the fire within 15 minutes of the fire department's arrival. Companies remained on the scene for another 60 minutes to extinguish remaining spot fires and conduct overhaul operations.
The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department, the Bolingbrook Fire Department, the Downers Grove Fire Department, the Oswego Fire Protection District, the Westmont Fire Department and Warrenville Fire Protection District. The Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District provided station coverage for Naperville during the incident.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Naperville Fire Department's investigations team. Damages to the home are estimated at $50,000. One patient received medical attention and was transported to a local hospital for care. The house was deemed to be habitable and able to be occupied.
