Solar Installation Rebates
Naperville Electric Utility customers have the right to interconnect their own solar facilities to the City’s utility distribution system. The Utility offers incentives up to $1,750 ($250/kW AC at AC Inverter, 7 kW AC Max.), based on the size of the system, for residential solar panel installations and provides a solar installation checklist to guide residents through the process.
Renewable Energy Program
The renewable energy program provides funding for non-residential customers to support projects that measurably increase renewable energy usage, displace fossil fuels, create opportunities for our community to learn about renewable solutions and can be replicated. Grants can cover up to 50% of the applicant’s total cost as a $50,000 maximum reimbursement award.

Energy Efficiency
The City offers a variety of rebate and grant programs to support customers installing renewable energy projects, smart thermostats, air conditioners, and energy-efficient attic insulation/windows or scheduling tune-ups for a furnace blower motor or air conditioner. Nicor Gas and the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency offer rebates for Naperville residents as well.
As of May 20, Naperville has awarded 100% of available funding for residential energy efficiency/renewable energy projects for the year. The rebate programs noted below have ended for the year, as all budgeted funding has been awarded. Please note that projects purchased or installed in 2024 will not be eligible for incentives in future years. This applies to attic insulation, single-pane window replacement, residential solar, air conditioning tune-up and furnace blower motor replacement projects.
