Safety and Public Education
Fire and life safety education is an essential component in Naperville Fire Department's mission to safeguard the lives and property of the citizens of Naperville, by providing professional, quality public education programs. Our strategy to reduce fire deaths and injuries is to focus on prevention by identifying and changing the unsafe behaviors. The Naperville Fire Department recognizes the most important defense against fire is awareness through education.
The Naperville Fire Department is continually involved in comprehensive, innovative and outstanding prevention programming. Our Public Education Specialist and the Public Education Team work cooperatively with co-workers, schools, community groups, businesses, volunteer organizations and individual citizens to provide effective fire prevention programs and promote excellent community relations throughout the city.

Block Parties/Parades
The Naperville Fire Department will visit your neighborhood block party to provide an educational presentation for all ages.

The Citizen Fire Academy is designed to give participants a working knowledge of the Naperville Fire Department using brief classroom discussions with a primary focus on hands-on exercises.

Naperville Fire Department staff will supervise fire drills upon request at public buildings or businesses and offer recommendations for any necessary improvements.
