Central Elevated Water Tank Project

The City's Water/Wastewater Utility will be replacing the existing elevated water tank located adjacent to the 5th Avenue Train Station in the 528 E 5th Avenue parking lot. The existing water tower was constructed 1940s and is reaching the end of its useful life. The existing tower will remain in service during the construction of the new tower, so for a short period of time, there will be two elevated water tanks at this location. After completion of the new tank, the old tank will be removed.

Weather permitting, work is expected to begin in early 2025 and end in Summer of 2026.  This project will be occupying approximately half of the parking spots in the existing 5th Avenue parking lot. These spots will be occupied for the entirety of the construction project and will be inaccessible for all of 2025.

Every effort will be made to keep streets accessible; however, residents should expect temporary delays when moving through the area. While intermittent lane closures and intersection closures are expected, streets should be fully accessible by the end of the work day.
