Hire a Paramedic

Naperville firefighter/paramedics can be hired by a third party to provide on-site emergency medical services and an advanced life support ambulance for sporting and other special events within the City of Naperville.

This is called special event employment. By filling out the below form, government, for-profit or not-for-profit entities may request to contract with the Naperville Fire Department for purposes of hiring Naperville firefighter/paramedics for on-site standby at a special event.

For 2024, the hourly rate of $62.44 for a firefighter/paramedic will apply. State regulations require a minimum of two (2) paramedics to staff an advanced life support ambulance. Hourly rates are set annually based upon the Naperville Professional Firefighters collective bargaining agreement. A flat rate fee of $97.00 will also be charged for the use of the advanced life support ambulance.

** For larger venues/events, an additional paramedic golf cart with 2 paramedics is available.

Example for a 3 hour event:

$62.44 x 2 paramedics x 3 hours + flat rate ambulance usage fee of $97.00 = $471.64

To request hiring an ambulance with two (2) paramedics for extra duty special event employment, please complete the following form. This request must be submitted at least two (2) months prior to the event. Playoff and championship games require a minimum of 72 hours advance notice and coverage cannot be guaranteed.

Special Events Notice

If your event requires any of the following, it is considered a special event and must be approved by the City Clerk's Office:

street closures (except for block parties)
the closure of parking facilities
the posting of “No Parking, Tow Zone” signs
the use of city-owned property (i.e. street, sidewalk, park, etc.)

If your special event meets any of these criteria, do not fill out the form on this page. Instead, please contact the City Clerk’s Office to initiate the process of permitting your event.
