Scout Merit Badge Workshops

The Naperville Police Department offers three Merit Badge Workshops to Scouts each year at the Naperville Police Department, 1350 Aurora Ave. Typically, the Fingerprinting Merit Badge Workshop is held in February, the Crime Prevention Merit Badge Workshop is held in February and the Traffic Safety Merit Badge Workshop is held in October.

Junior Girl Scout Badge Workshop

girl scouts take their own fingerprints at a workshopThe Naperville Police Department offers a Detective Badge workshop to fourth grade Junior Girl Scouts each year at the Naperville Police Department, 1350 Aurora Ave. Typically, the Detective Badge workshop is held in January.

The program introduces forensic science and raises awareness of crime prevention and safety within the community. The curriculum for this workshop meets the following requirements for the Detective Badge:

  • Practice the Power of Observation
  • Communicate in Code
  • Fingerprint for Fun
  • Try out Detective Science
  • Follow the Clues to Solve a Real Mystery

Participants will also observe a mock crime scene and help determine who committed the crime. They will also make their own fingerprint card.
