Water Supply
Naperville purchases Lake Michigan water from the DuPage Water Commission. Our lake water comes through the City of Chicago’s Jardine Water Purification Plant.
Present average water usage is about 13 million gallons per day. Water utility service is provided within the City limits and also to the following subdivisions outside the City limits: Century Hill, Huntington, Lawnmeadow, Longwood Manor and Pebblewood.
Prior to Lake Michigan water, Naperville’s water supply came from a network of 25 underground wells. A number of these wells are now retained for emergency standby use.
Naperville's water supply is chlorinated and fluoridated as required by federal and state regulations. Resident questions or concerns regarding water quality can be directed to the Water Supply and Reclamation Division Laboratory at (630) 420-6128.
